Hello and welcome to the Pretty Loopy blog! My name is Lyn and I’m based in tropical Malaysia. I used to blog quite actively up until 2014 then I stopped. I don’t know why I felt the compulsion to revive or restart beauty blogging in 2019 but it was something that has been lingering at the back of my mind for a while. This blog is mainly dedicated to beauty products with some crafts, food, lifestyle and maybe tech thrown into the mix. I have a small handmade bag business over at madebyloopy.com (yes, that’s me carrying my own handmade creation in the photo).
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is your skintype / skintone?
I have rather complicated skin. My face is sensitive and has a tendency to turn red and itchy if I’m not careful with what I use or expose my face to. I suffer from mild eczema on my legs but it’s quite well behaved as long as it’s not triggered (usually by heat, stress, dryness, wrong products). As for skintone, I suppose I’m a MAC NC15 or NC20? I haven’t used a MAC foundation in a long time so I’m not exactly sure. But it’s somewhere between fair to light medium Asian skintone.
- What are your favorite brands?
I am not exactly particular about beauty brands but I do tend to prefer Korean and Japanese skincare as I find them to be better for layering. My face cannot tolerate many facial oils, so it’s usually a luxury I have to skip *sobs* I am more open and adventurous with makeup and will use anything from drugstore to high end.
- What type of colors do you enjoy using?
I am beginning to appreciate the Korean makeup look and am starting a rather unhealthy obsession over peachy-pinky tones. And if all else fails, there are always boring but reliable ol’ neutrals to fall back on. I don’t tend to stray too far when it comes to makeup but I will experiment with a variety of colors when in the mood.
- Can your reviews be trusted?
Of course they’re trusted! I am not one for pandering to people and don’t have the energy to be involved in “beauty politics” (ya, that’s a thing these days). I just say it as it is.
